Building a global learning ecosystem across 14 languages for a building materials and construction company with more than 85,000 employees across 30+ countries.
Summary of Project — Global Building Materials & Construction Company
A global building materials and construction company with more than 85,000 employees across more than 30 countries invests heavily in workforce development. To make those opportunities more accessible to employees around the world, the organization launched a multi-year initiative to localize its learning ecosystem into additional languages. Blake Learning Solutions partnered with the client to help plan, manage, and implement the effort across thousands of learning assets, multiple technology platforms, and fourteen languages.
The organization's learning ecosystem included nearly 1,500 content items spanning a wide range of formats, technologies, and content providers. The project included:
Many of these assets required more than translation alone. Content needed to be prepared for translation, processed through multiple review stages, quality checked, rebuilt where necessary, and reinserted into the learning platform. The work also coincided with a period of rapid change in AI-assisted translation technology, creating opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality and consistency.
BLS worked with the client to develop a localization process that combined AI-assisted translation, human review, terminology management, quality assurance, and learning platform administration. The project began with extensive planning and analysis to determine the most effective approach for managing localization at scale.
To support consistency across languages and content types, BLS coordinated the development of multilingual glossaries, terminology databases, and translation memory resources. This work involved identifying preferred translations for industry-specific terminology, coordinating reviews and approvals, and establishing standards that could be applied consistently across thousands of learning assets and multiple translation teams.
BLS managed the movement of content through every stage of the localization process, including file preparation, translation workflows, reviewer coordination, quality assurance, issue resolution, and final deployment. The team tracked thousands of individual files and components across multiple languages while maintaining detailed processes to ensure content remained accurate, functional, and aligned with established terminology standards.
Once content was translated and reviewed, BLS completed post-production work, conducted final quality checks, and integrated translated content into the client's learning platform. This included rebuilding learning pathways, updating platform content, managing content relationships, and ensuring learners could access localized resources through a consistent user experience.
