CEO & Co-Founder

Sarah’s path into instructional design was anything but direct. She brings journalism roots, a Harvard MEd, and experience at the Jim Henson Company and WGBH Boston. She co-founded BLS in 2012 after leading large instructional design teams for federal clients.

KC Blake

President & Co-Founder

KC combines storytelling, technology, and strategic leadership. Film background, MBA from USC, USC Entertainment Technology Center. Executive producer of Junior’s Giants, an educational animated series distributed nationally.

Alexandra Waller

Senior Learning Designer

Alexandra joined BLS as its first full-time employee and has more than a decade of experience developing learner-centered training. She specializes in research, course outlining, and historical interpretation.

Mckenna Clarke

Copyediting Lead

Mckenna manages the copyediting team with a background in magazine publishing and academic writing coaching. She holds a BA in English Language and Editing.

Janice Edwards

Learning Designer

Janice began as an elementary school teacher before moving to learning design. She balances detail with big-picture thinking and thrives on diverse client challenges.

Chanel Johnstun

Learning Designer

Chanel holds a BA in Philosophy and an MS in Instructional Design. She started in education through Teach for America and excels at making complex topics accessible.

Emily Rheault Kumar

Public Historian & Learning Designer

Emily specializes in translating complex topics for broad audiences. MA in Public History. Former National Archives and American Shakespeare Center.

Crystal Monson

Learning Design Expert

Crystal spent 11 years in the classroom before moving to instructional design. MS in Instructional Design and Technology. Expert in needs analysis and performance gap identification.

Melissa Morgan

Learning Designer

Melissa brings creative communication and accessibility expertise. BA in Communications, MEd in Special Education. Former marketing professional and secondary English teacher.

Rachelle Thorpe

Learning Designer

Rachelle spent eight years teaching math and dance before joining BLS. She brings analytical and creative discipline, known for efficiency and high-quality work under demanding timelines.

Anna Urena

Anna holds a BA in Art History and brings creativity and client partnership skills. She has interned at cultural institutions in Italy and Brazil.
